Bring water to forgotten families in Ethiopia.

"I was poor, because I had low levels of livelihood, and I faced shortages of food and basic necessities."

Etagegne is a mum and farmer from rural Ethiopia. No matter how hard she worked, she struggled to support her two young boys and their elderly grandmother. Then, when conflict came to the region, and weather disasters ruined crops, it seemed all hope was lost.

Your support today will help families like Etagegne's receive a reliable supply of water through the new 635 meter irrigation channel!

When you give, you begin transforming the lives of farm families like Etagegne's:

"Our eyes opened, our muscles stretched, and our stressed minds relaxed. We held on to bright hope for the future."

Your impact in Action

Etagegne's community now has access to the irrigation channel.

The irrigation channel didn't mean an end to Etagegne's hard work.

Quite the opposite, in fact.

Etagegne felt so encouraged by the new reliable water supply that she cultivated her land to plant onions and tomatoes.

The harvest?

3 tonnes of onions and 12 sacks of tomatoes!

No wonder Etagegne is celebrating!

The tomatoes sold for $80 ... which may not seem a lot to you and me, but was enough to
provide food for the family, and cover their daily living needs.

The onions were a different challenge.

When Etagegne went to sell them, prices were low. So, just like canny farmers in Australia, Etagegne decided to store them on her farm until prices were better.

Today, Etagegne is confident to do more:

“Now I am lucky and happy. I can grow vegetables twice a year, and during the rainy season, I also cultivate wheat, teff, and other crops.

I plan to open a vegetable store. I want to sell and distribute products like onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers to larger towns.”
